The Great Salt Lake Collaborative was catalyzed in 2022 by a two-year grant from Solutions Journalism Network’s Local Media Project. We remain committed to producing solutions journalism: Telling stories of evidence-backed solutions that have been tried elsewhere or are being implemented in Utah and examining if they work or not.

Today, we are supported by a coalition of funders who value the impact the Collaborative has made in making Utahns care about the Great Salt Lake and how that has translated into unprecedented interest and action by policy makers and everyday Utahns.

The Salt Lake Tribune acts as the fiscal sponsor for the Collaborative. All donations made to the Collaborative go directly to support the work of the Collaborative.

And our member organizations contribute their time and resources to making this collaborative successful.

Why do we need funding?

The Great Salt Lake Collaborative is dependent on grant funding and donations. Our work is free to the public. The funding is used to create impactful, multimedia journalism and unique community outreach events.

Editorial decisions are made independently by member news organizations and are not influenced by donations.
